Aquatic therapy is the process of
working with patients to either
actively or passively rehabilitate
musculoskeletal, neurological, and
even cardiopulmonary conditions,
using the aquatic environment as the
primary medium. The temperature of
the water is an important factor.
Many techniques and a variety of
interventions that will work towards
restoring function and decreasing
limitations and pain are utilised. It
is a specialized area requiring skill in
the application of problem-specific
interventions and modalities.
We are certified by the following bodies:
WATSU® Aquatic & Bodywork Therapy
Watsu is a gentle form of therapy in which the patient floats in warm
water, cradled by the Watsu therapist who works the spine, joints, and
muscles through specific stretches, rocking, and rhythmical
flowing movements, interspersed with a stillness that encourages the
release of tightness, tension, and stress.
This therapy is a wonderful modality that complements land-based
physiotherapy for those with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, and other disorders
or syndromes. It has also shown effective results in able-bodied
children and adults.
HALLIWICK
Halliwick AST works at promoting all aspects of swimming for people
with disabilities. It aims to teach water happiness, pool safety, as well as
swimming, and to encourage people with disabilities to use the water.
Hydrostatics, hydrodynamics, and body dynamics are all used in this
concept. The major purpose is to stimulate involvement in water
activities and autonomous mobility through swimming instruction. The concept
encompasses mental and physical water adaptation,
relaxation, breathing control, balance, and the acquisition of basic
motor abilities in the water.
