Intensive Pediasuit Programme is offered to children and
adults who suffer from neuromuscular disorders and a variety of
diagnoses. It is performed on a one-on-one basis with an experienced and
certified physiotherapist. Our programme typically lasts 4 hours per day, 5 days
per week for 4 weeks, or 3 hours per day for 6 weeks. Our core
program uses the equipment:-
The Pediasuit - a Soft Dynamic Proprioceptive Orthosis
The Universal Exercise Unit (fondly called "the cage")
Spider (the use of bungee cords, belts, and harnesses)
A typical day of the Intensive Programme consists of the following:
Far Infra-red and deep tissue massage
Tone reduction and Sensory Integration techniques (may include brushing and joint compression)
Decrease pathological movement patterns
Increase active proper movement patterns
Stretching/strengthening specific muscle groups responsible for functional movement
Progressive resistance exercises
Balance, coordination, and endurance training
Transfers, functional activities, and gait training
This form of therapy is an
effective modality for the treatment
of adults and children with Cerebral
Palsy and other disorders or
syndromes. The issues this therapy address include:
Correct the postural alignment of the body
Provides proprioceptive feedback to the brain from the muscles
Strengthening of muscles through resistance training
Exercises and activities in the
programme are customised by the
therapists for the individual after an
initial assessment and during the
programme as the individual’s
development and ability improves.
Targets and achievements are
discussed with the parents as it is
important to work together to bring
about quicker results.
