Regene’s Mum, Veron

I am Veron, and my 5 years old child, Regene was diagnosed with SMA in 2020. It was a fortunate coincidence that in August 2023, we stumbled upon information about Amir’s Therapy Gym online. After understanding more about it, I immediately arranged an assessment for my child. Both my husband and I were impressed by the thoroughness of the assessment report, which provided us with a better understanding of our child’s weaknesses and areas that needed improvement.
Following the assessment, Amir’s team provided Regene with a personalized physiotherapy plan. We started our journey with physiotherapy at Amir’s in October of the same year. As of today, we have entered the fifth month, and during these months, we have clearly seen our child’s progress. We are grateful to Fezia and the team for sharing their knowledge of physiotherapy with us, allowing us to collaborate on Regene’s physiotherapy both at Amir’s and at home. Regene has transformed from many aspects of “cannot” to today’s “can”, from frequently saying “I can’t” to being confidently saying “Yes! I can do it!”. We have witnessed a significant improvement in her limb mobility, not a hundred percent, but at least thirty percent.
We are also grateful to Fezia for giving Regene the opportunity to experience an Aquatherapy session. She was very scared in the water at first, perhaps due to her first encounter, she felt very insecure. However, during that process, Fezia showed us that Regene is capable of many movements in the water. Afterwards, Regene said she actually enjoyed the Aquatherapy session, but was just very afraid of falling into the water, so she kept crying. Regene started using her own AFO and standing frame in November and has been using the standing frame at home for some time now. Although she complains of pain in her feet and knees every time, from initially standing for five to ten minutes, she can now stand for thirty to forty minutes.

We believe Regene can do even better, and we are happy to have access to Amir’s Therapy Gym. They play an important role in Regene’s journey with SMA treatment. We sincerely appreciate the efforts of the physiotherapists, allowing our child to discover her potential. My husband and I hope to provide Regene with the best and most comprehensive treatment in the days to come, to the best of our abilities.

Mrs Amy Chong, mum to precious Samuel with Cerebral Palsy

Samuel Chong, 13 years, quadraplelgic, went for a month long half day Pediasuit Therapy in Nov 2015. In fact, we had more than we asked for. Not only was he given pediasuit therapy, Samuel was also given infrared treatment, craniosacrial, n yes, Watsu treatment. Some of these therapies were not available,( at least not that I know Of) in my home country here in Singapore, like Watsu, a relaxing water technique that stretches all the muscles of the client. The pediasuit therapy is absolutely amazing. It requires trained Physiotherists to execute the program, thereby giving assurance to the parents that the staff has professional knowledge when handling our kids.
With the use of the ” Spider” cage, Samuel was challenged to various positions like one leg kneeling, 4 point kneeling etc. The elastic ” noodle” over different parts of his body were to activate different parts of his muscles. The small hooks tied to the suit creates a sense of awareness in Samuel of his body, n the different positionng, standing, squatting, kneeling, spatial consciousness. There were even weights training to strengthen those not often used muscles.
The team were dedicated to help improve the conditions of Samuel. They adeptly customised appropriate exercises for Samuel, were patient , yet firmed ,with anxious parents. That allayed much of my worries. They worked with passion n dedication towards the well being of the client.
At the end of the mth long therapy, Samuel is stronger, can hold his head up longer, his trunk can hold up longer, n at the last exercise session he could execute sit to stand movement! This is a all rounded therapy, n i will strongly recommend it to people with mobility issues. Finally, keep up the good work, Fezia n team!”

Reshma, mum to Zareen teenager with Autism

We were helped a lot by Fezia Of Amir’s Gym. I learnt a lot about sensory processing issues that our kids on the spectrum have. She guided me throughout various therapies, sorting out Zareen’s sensory issues and showed me how his physical and spatial perspective and processing was and how it should be. She and her team worked on these one by one and after she felt that they had done as much as they could, she introduced me to Vision therapy. I highly recommend Amir’s Gym. There are also so many courses you can attend to learn more and equip yourself with some tools for ‘quick’ fix its at home.

Sasha's mum

Since Fezia has a special needs son, she understands the nuances better (compared to other therapists who are not in the same situation) and as such her judgement is more robust in terms of what therapies will work for your child. She goes further than most therapists in helping to rehabilitate your child, regularly trying new things and providing constructive feedback.

Pavan's Journey on Facebook

When we first stepped into Amir’s gym, I felt overwhelmed. I was not sure where that came from. Maybe I was unsure of being there or maybe I was just afraid of what I would find out about our little boy. I normally don’t get these sort of feeling so I just brushed it away. Then we met Fezia, whom we spoke to about our little boy Pavan. We got the feeling that she is the kind of person who will be straight with you no matter what and there’s just no nonsense business with her ( and we were spot on!! ). That was a delight as we came to realize that it’s easier to handle things when people tell you the truth rather than give you false hope especially when it came to Pavan.
We started therapy at amir’s gym a year ago and we couldn’t be happier. Pavan has progressed tremendously. They are not God or magicians who just with a snap of finger make problems go away. The team works really hard and they never give up and they don’t let the children give up. Pavan’s progress are mainly small but very very significant achievements that completely makes our day. To our delight, it makes the Amir’s gym staff’s/family’s day as well. Every achievement, every progress is celebrated. They make it a point to inform the parents and give the children there the encouragement to keep going. And that in turn encourages the parents to keep going. Let’s face it, it is not easy to have a differently abled child, but at Amir’s gym, they reduce the load for us.
The team are not only dedicated, but they are compassionate as well. They treat every child like their own brother, sister, niece, nephew. Family, period. When we’re at gym, I feel at home. So, the overwhelming feeling that I had on the first day at the gym, it was god, a higher power, or the universe telling me that we are at the right place. We’re HOME.
Pavan’s mum, a medical doctor, posts weekly photo accounts of the activities that Pavan, a young boy with Cerebral Palsy, gets up during his Intensive Pediasuit Therapy Programme at Amirs Gym.

Mum to Hana

AFOs fitting today at AmirsGym. Saravanan, the orthotist from India, was really helpful in explaining to me on what Hana needs for her AFOs. He made sure Hana was comfortable and was really professional throughout the process of consultation, measuring and making the casts. I hope he is able to start a center here so more patients may benefit from his passion and genuine care.

Sook Yee, mum to Branden with Spinal Muscular Atrophy

How Branden benefits from hydrotherapy. It had made his muscles stronger, he likes it so much compared to PT as its play and not painful. Fezia from Amirs Gym has been Branden’s hydrotherapist for a year. I strongly recommend hydrotherapy for SMA kids.

Joyce, mum to Evon with Cerebral Palsy

My daughter Evon Tew, 10 years old diagnosed with Dyskinetic Cerebral Palsy. We have started her Aqua Therapy with Amir Gym since 18th June 2015 and I found that the aqua-therapy has helps to improve her body alignment especially the Watsu therapy was great as it can really relax & calm her down during therapy! We looking forward for more better results in time to come.

Jaysheila, mum to 5 year old, K. Girieshanjali from Sungai Petani, Kedah

What do you say when you have tried all the possibilities within your reach & capacity but the best you’ve been waiting for to do for your differently abled child is sitting waiting for you to call. That’s exactly happened in September 2014. Everything happened like a magic & how we got to know & agreed to the training still vague in my mind . All I could remember was the video from Amir’s Gym which stole my entire family’s heart & the next thing my hubby said, let’s go for this!
My daughter, Giriesha underwent a 4-week PediaSuit Training Programme at Amir’s Gym in November 2014. I just want to bring to your attention my happiness with the level of professionalism, skill and dedication I have found at Amir’s Gym is enormous. The most prominent difference that we see in Giriesha now that-her trunk and head control are significantly enhanced.
Both her legs which we slightly curved in are now straight and sturdy. Giriesha’s focusing too has improved . Her seconds of sitting upright on the second week of training made me jumped with joy!
Thank you to the wonderful team at Amir’s Gym & Madam Fezia for illuminating the RIGHT path for us to follow.

Sukvinder, mum to son with Autistic Spectrum Disorder

My 9-year-old son has been doing Craniosacral Therapy (CST) for the past 4 years or so with Fezia@Amirs Gym.
He was diagnosed with high-functioning autism at the age of 3. He suffered from a lot of sensory problems and was in the shut-down mode most of the time. He was afraid of high-pitch sounds, afraid of children or people crowding around him, afraid of hair blower, hand dryer and the sound of a vacuum cleaner. Taking him for haircuts was a nightmare.
Gradually together with OT and CST he was able to withstand crowds, feel comfortable around children, in the public toilet he sometimes dries his hands using the hand dryer. He now loves getting his haircuts. As he grows older, we could feel that he is able to manage stress with the help of CST. He can now tolerate high pitch sounds and even children crying around him.
We would strongly recommend CST to children suffering from autistic spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Dyspraxia and birth-trauma. I trust my son in Fezia’s good hands to bring about relief in various issues dealing with his emotions and inner-being. My son now looks forward for his CST sessions with Aunty Fezia. Thank you very much Fezia.

Fadzidah, mum to Aiman with Microcephaly

From day one, We have been exposing Aiman to a variety of therapies to help move his physical development along. In the last 10 years, Aiman has benefited from a collection of therapies that include ABR, osteopathy & cranio sacral therapy. While this is ongoing, more recently (about 3 years ago) we added a twice weekly pool session at Amirs Gym. Its a combination of Aqua Therapy and Watsu. Because these sessions are done in the pool, it helps Aiman stretch his muscles, tendons anf facial tissues all over his body in a near-weightless environment, thereby reducing risk of injury. As a result, Aiman is able to exercise a wider range of movements, keeping his body in optimal shape. On the other hand, if we did not do This session, Aiman’s body and limbs would become just that bit less pliant and flexible, which would make it harder for himself and for those around him

Zelina Tan

I recently slipped at the stairs and basically “folded” over my big toe. Was in excruciating pain that night and next day I immediately SOS Fezia and although it was a Sunday, she made time to see me for a CST. Immediately my foot swelling went down and by the next day i could walk without crutches. Thanks Fezia
